IRES and ESE Conferences: Final conclusions and political claims

Düsseldorf, 16 March 2017. The 11th International Renewable Energy Storage Conference (IRES 2017) of EUROSOLAR e.V. and the 6th Energy Storage Europe 2017 (ESE) trade fair from Messe Düsseldorf will end today. More than 650 experts attended the conferences and discussed the latest developments focusing on science and research (IRES) and business and finance (ESE). Over 4,200 visitors from more than 55 countries attended this year's trade fair. These figures affirm yet again the position of the IRES Conference, the Energy Storage Europe Conference and the trade fair as the world's leading platform for storage technologies – ranging from battery storage to thermal and mechanical storage up to Power2Gas and their practical applications.

The winners of the Best Poster Prize Award on IRES 2017 in Düsseldorf

This was not an easy choice! As every year on IRES, the Best Poster Prize is awarded by the scientific steering committee who assesses all posters according to the scientific quality, the relevance of the topic and the presentation of the content. This year the steering committee had to pick the three best posters out of 97 ! We congratulate the winners which are shown below on their oustanding research and presentation at the conference.

Presenters analyze and discuss the applicability and need for storage in the power, heating and transport and mobility sectors. The latest technological improvements as well as the framework conditions for the use and integration of energy storage systems are explored, while particular attention is given to the applicability in decentralized energy supply systems.

Parallel Sessions and Poster Exhibition 2017

IRES Grafik IRES ENGThe conference program combines the two themes "business and finance" and "research and policy". On the first day of the conference - Tuesday, 14 March - the celebratory opening gives insights on the two foci. A panel with storage experts and politicians discusses the necessity for storage technologies in Germany and the world. On Wednesday, 15 March, the IRES-sessions present the latest technological developments, research projects and key findings for the storage IRES Grafik ESE ENGof renewable energy. The ESE-sessions feature business cases and financial aspects for the energy storage industry. On the fhird and final day - Thursday, 16 March 2017 - more parallel sessions allow the audience to dive deeper into the conference topics. In the afternoon, a celebratory closing summarizes the core content of the sessions. This way, all participants are equally informed.
